As a Martinez City Councilmember ...
... it's been my honor to serve you. During my tenure, I've been dedicated to revitalization, preserving our heritage, our environment, and safety—all with the goal of making a great town even better.As a longtime Martinez resident and businessperson, I realize the importance of being of service to one's community.
In the same way my parents supported a family living and working in Martinez, I want to make sure that we all have that same opportunity.
When Martinez wins, we all win. By collaborating with residents, organizations and businesses we can enhance our downtown. We now have a burgeoning theater and restaurant district, as well as numerous special events. By bringing awareness to our town's amenities, we bring people together, providing additional revenue for our businesses.
In the last 4 years, I've worked hard to provide Martinez residents with a better quality of life by:
- Maintaining a balanced budget with over $6,000,000 in reserves
- Resurfacing 23% of our streets and enhancing scenic roadways
- Preserving over 600 acres of additional open space
As an environmentalist, I continue John Muir's legacy by protecting our environment—including the beavers.
I led the fight against Texaco's pollution of our marsh and won a $1,500,000 settlement, putting industry on notice that Martinez is not a toxic dumping ground.
As a Bay Area Air Quality Management District Director, I strengthen pollution laws, fight climate change, and hold industries accountable—benefiting Martinez and our planet.
As your Councilmember, I'll continue fighting for the needs of our citizens—not special interests. I will:
- Restore our Marina with a state-approved private/public partnership
- Revitalize our downtown through existing tax dollars
- Reinforce our town's infrastructure, and maintain fiscal conservancy
